Eye Mitra is a CSR project of Essilor, considered as the World’s largest lens making company. The objectives of the program are: to address the need of opticians in the rural communities of the country and to provide livelihood opportunities to rural youth.
In 2012, Essilor partnered with B-ABLE to implement the pilot project in rural India aiming to reach the goal by establishing a strategic partnership.
Since then, B-ABLE has trained more than 7000 candidates in different states, and 80% of them are now successful rural entrepreneurs, who are earning 10,000 per month on an average.
The project has also benefited 100,000,000 beneficiaries by providing access to primary vision care.
