Skill Training for Transgender Community

On the occasion of International Women Day, March 8, 2018, B-ABLE in association with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) launched SWABHIMAAN, an initiative for skilling transgender community, at Kolkata. SWABHIMAAN is first of its kind program which has a potential and reach to bring this marginalized community into the mainstream with equality and dignity. Dr. Santosh Giri (Secretary Kolkata Rishta), Mr. Bikram Das (State Engagement Officer- NSDC), Ms. Juhi Yasmin (NSDC), Mr. Chetan Agarwal (Trainer, B-ABLE) and Mr. Shome (Project Coordinator) and about 20 transgender were present during the launch program. The training started in March 2018 for the job role of ‘Assistant Beauty Therapist’. Digital Literacy has been made an integral part of the training program to empower them with the technical knowledge. B-ABLE aims to use this platform to transpire change.
