BASIX Academy for Building Lifelong Employability Ltd. (B-ABLE), an initiative for those whose schools could not complete their education is working towards enhancing the ability of the under-educated and the under-skilled to become self-employed, find meaningful work and continually upgrade their competencies by offering them technical, commercial and life skills.
B-ABLE is a subsidiary of BASICS Limited (http://www.basixindia.com), the pioneering organisation in micro-finance and livelihood promotion which has its presence in 20 states and working with over 2.5 million stakeholders, through its team of over 8000 people across 27,000 villages.
BASIX exemplary leadership team is led by Mr. D. Sattaiah, CEO. B-ABLE has taken upon itself a part of this responsibility towards building employability of those who have been failed by our school system. This also fulfils the BASIX mission of promoting livelihoods.
B-ABLE seeks to create an innovative, sustainable model for building a high quality skilled workforce – both in the unorganised and the organised sectors. It provides market-driven, aspiration-based vocational education and training using technology and partnerships.
B-ABLE will create a virtuous circle of skilled workers and entrepreneurs mostly from the disadvantaged sections of society, through a system of supporting the youth with education and enterprise loans, and also providing effective real time connects between the job providers and job seekers.
In doing so it will also engage the Government and Industry to realise synergies reduce its costs and build all India Scale.
CURRENT STATUS & PLAN
B-ABLE in its very first year of operation achieved the distinction of being the first organization to be a beneficiary of soft loan funding from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), for setting up 400 student centric, technology enabled, pan India Vocational Training Centres and train over 1 million youth in next 10 years.
B-ABLE launched its initiative in 2009 with a model skill training campus at Dehradun. Since then B-ABLE has extended its reach extensively and is now present in 11 states of India with 76 active centres.
B-ABLE is targeting Agriculture, Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing, Automotive, Beauty & Wellness, Construction, Domestic Worker, Handicrafts and Carpet, Healthcare, IT-ITeS, Retail, Rubber, Telecom, Textile, Tourism & Hospitality, Power.
B-ABLE’s strong team is led by Mr. D. Sattaiah, Managing Director & CEO. He worked with BASIX Group in various senior capacities. Over 18 years of tenure with BASIX, he has contributed to micro-credit operations, micro-insurance operations and setting up of Corporate Human Resource Departments. He also served Bhartiya Sumruddhi Finance Ltd; India’s pioneering Microfinance Company as Head CHR.
