Shrawan Singh 25 years, completed ‘Domestic Electrician’ training from Beawar Centre under the ELSTP scheme and soon after which got placed as a ‘Machine Operator’ with a monthly salary of Rs 10,000/-. Never did he think that he, who after class VIII was leading a directionless life would ever be able to achieve this feet in life. It all happened when his father heard of the training course being conducted by B-ABLE in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government managed to convince his son to join the course.
Very reluctantly Shrawan did so but it wasn’t long that he began to show interest in all that was being taught in class and the practical sessions. Along with the technical knowledge, Shrawan also learnt the basics of work ethics, good grooming, discipline etc that changed his thought process and developed a positive approach to life.
Looking back, Shrawan expresses his gratitude to B-ABLE and the Rajasthan Government for giving him the training that transformed his life. He feels happy to be a son of a proud father who says, “ never did I imagine that my awara beta will earn Rs 10,000/ every month.I am very proud of him “.

Mohamad Shadab, son of a small time tailor had great aspirations to do well in life and raise the living standard of his family. Unfortunately, the financial constraints and lack of direction were not in his favour and he was left to while away his time with other young boys doing nothing.
One day Shadab chanced upon a pamphlet, informing him about the Retail training. What attracted him most was the training was free of cost. Shadab wasted no time and joined the training course and there was no looking back for him.
Today he is working with ‘Reliance Trends’ and gets a monthly salary of Rs8400/-in hand. He feels very proud that with his earnings he can support the family and also independently take care of his personal expenses.
With a smile on his face Shadab says “This training is the best thing that happened to me. The same people who would rebuke me and would look at me as good for nothing, now respect me and feel happy that one among them is on the path to success”. Shadab now has a goal to continue doing his best and grow to the level of ‘department Manager’. Our best wishes to Shadab for achieving success in his future endeavours
Originally from Bihar, the family migrated to Delhi in search of livelihood. Prakash showed no interest in going to school and barely completed his class VIII. He soon began to accompany his father at work so he can avoid going to school. This he says was a ‘Blessing in disguise’. He acquired his skill of gardening by observing and assisting his father at work. He would go to work every day to do his mundane chores in the garden and return home day after day waiting for a small salary of about 3500/- per month which was hardly enough to make his two ends meet. Not so long ago in March 2018, Prakash heard of a specialized training being conducted with a defined job role of ‘Gardner cum Nursery Raiser’. An initiative to upskill the existing gardeners and to provide skills to the new comers.The 2 month training was like an eye-opener for Prakash. He realized that the work he was doing was very random. For Prakash gardening was as simple as sowing the seeds, watering the sapling or softening the soil and leave the rest to the weather gods for the plants to bear fruit. According to him the training not only gave him the knowledge of basics of gardening but also got the firsthand experience of knowing the different types of soil, impact of weather on plants and much more”. In other words he says “I feel like a real gardener now”. His enhanced gardening skills and eagerness to work was well appreciated and rewarded by his employers. He now earns a handsome pay packet of Rs. 9000/- per month.
Here is a story of a young boy of 18 years. He along with his elder brother, sister and their father belong to a small village near Gorakhpur, (U P). . Like any other poverty strekin people of the village they too were not sure of getting 2 square meals a day. This is precicely the reason why he and his sibblings went to school –so they can take advantage of the mid-day meal facility in the nearby Govt School.
This young boy named Pannelal Prajapati, today boasts about being a qualified and a certified painter earning more than Rs 11,000/- per month. How did this transformation happen? Its all thanks to the CSR initiative of AkzoNobel and B-ABLE as their Training Partners. This specific skill based training was focused to train the youth in the job role of ‘ Advanced Painting and decoration’ so they can earn their livelihood as a painter.
Pannelal became a part of the training programme through one of the mobilisation drive being conducted around his village by the B-ABLE team. Much to the reluctance of the family, Pannelal joind the training programme at Delhi. This 2 month training programme, he said, “opened a whole new world for me . Not only did I learn the skill but also learned the importance of good grooming, communication skills, discipline, value of time and much more”. Pannelal further expressess that he enjoys his work and sometimes also does double shift to earn that extra bit. Pannelal gets emotional as he shares that now he and his family do not have to sleep hungry. Also that he was able to provide for a long pending medical treatment for his younger brother. Pannelal is a hard working young boy, and is commited to work with honesty and dedication as he moves on his journey, he promises to keep learning and improve upon his present skills and get better at his work.
Asha Rawat completed a short term Retail Sales Associate (RSA) training course in Ajmer conducted by B-ABLE under the CSR initiative of Reliance Foundation. She is employed as a ‘Store Associate’ at Reliance Fresh and earns a salary of approx Rs 6000/- per month.
Karan Kaushik stands next to the Backhoe Loader Machine and very proudly says, “I can operate this machine”. Indeed a very proud moment for him!
Karan completed the Backhoe Loader Operator training course organised by B-ABLE, under the Bhagwanti Foundation CSR Project sponsered by Gainwell Comosales Pvt Ltd – GCPL and Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd. For Karan the one month long training course was like a far fetched dream. Whenever, Karan saw the Backhoe Loader machine in his village and around, he silently sighed “I wish I could operate this big machine”, knowing fully well that it is much beyond his financial limitations to do so.
Karan belongs to a small town called Jahangirpur, District Gautambudh Nagar in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He completed his class Xth and soon after took up a job as a sales person in the local shop. Earnings from here were not enough, so he learnd to drive and worked as a private driver on short term assignments. One fine day, his friend handed him a pamphlet stateing all the information of the said training course. He could not believe his eyes when he read that the training was ‘free of cost’. And that was the turning point in his life. He was overwhellmed with the large training ground, the machines and the boarding lodging facilities. Karan was so excited about the training programme that he reached a day before the commencement of the programme.
He expressess with deep gratitude that the training was of par excellance. “The combination of theory and practical classes developed my skills and today I am a certified Backhoe Loader Operator and I also know all about the big and small parts of the machine”. Karan expressess his happiness and shares that just about a month ago he was not even sure of his next meal but today he has a regular job with a regular income of Rs 12,000/- and is confident that with his newly acquired skill he will be able to provide the much needed financial support to his family.
A self employed entrepreneur Mobin Khan is an ‘Eye Mitra Optician’. He has a shop in Alwar and earns about 10,000/- to 12,000/- per month.Prior to becoming a certified EMO, Mobin had a job of a Factory Supervisor in the local area. He had to work for long hours in very stress full environment and unhealthy working conditions. While his father would toil all day long in a small farm land where the produce would often get destroyed due to extreme weather, leaving very little to feed the family of 10. Mobin’s salary was hardly enough for survival.Since Mobin was not happy with his present job, he had kept his eyes and ears open for better options. One fine day, Mobin came to know about the EMO Training being held in Alwar. Not knowing much about the training Mobin went up to the centre to enquire. Totally satisfied with the information, he left the centre feeling that this training would surely make a difference in his life. He took consent of his father and enrolled himself in the training course. Mobin was a good learner and soon understood both the theoritical and the practical concepts of becoming an Eye Mitra Optition. The training at the centre had a wholistic approach. The candidates got a ‘hands on’ training of their job role along with being coached for becoming a fine entrepreneur .After a 2 month training course Mobin Khan was certified as an Eye Mitra Optician and was now ready to set out on his own – but not without the hand holding process of the B-ABLE Team. He is grateful to the B-ABLE staff at the centre for mentoring and guiding him through out the training duration. Mobin inaugurated his shop in the presence of the B-ABLE Team, his family and well known personalities of his village. Mobin shares, ““I felt dejected due to the work conditions and pressure of my previous job. After starting my own work I feel I have regained my enthusiasm and confidence”.
